Ezell’s Bio

Ezell was born in Washington, DC on July 7, 1968 to Pearlie Ezell.  He has an older sister and younger brother.  After his parents divorced, he and his siblings were raised by their mother.  He attended Hillsborough County Public Schools.  Upon graduation, he attended Chipola Junior College in Mariana, FL; Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, FL; Hillsborough Community College and University of South Florida, Tampa, FL.  He played  high school and college basketball.  He is a member of KAPPA ALPHA PHI fraternity.

He is the author of “Ezell Presents Nineteen Minutes”, a Spoken Words artist and poet by nature.

Ezell first recognized his love of words when it was easier for him to express himself through pen and paper than verbally.  Before the inspiration came to write novels, he enjoyed writing poetry, participating in Spoken Words venues in Tampa, (other Florida cities), Atlanta, GA and Newark, NJ.

Individuals that influenced his writing were Langston Hughes, Carter G. Woodson, Nathan McCall and several others.  He gives special credit and thanks to his step-father Stephen Katrinak who helped him realize and accomplish his dream.

His poetry is a direct link to his inner self.  He uses the same emotions when writing novels.  He is currently working on furthering his education in his next novel, “Ghetto Soldier:  The Chronicles of Gospel James” coming in 2009.
